In my hotel room in Münster, when I turn on the lights, the TV also flicks on automatically. On the screen is the image of a blazing fire. Soothing, cheery Muzak fills the room. We are happy to be back in Germany.
The venue we are playing tonight, Gleis 22, made our flavor dreams come true with the most delicious vegan cooking. Tofu casserole, rice pilaf, vegan gravy, these weird mashed potato nuggets, squash soup, deluxe salad, crusty bread, the works. I dined with Darwin and Orlando from TEED while they geeked out about electronic music, specifically, about ADSR (attack, decay, sustain, release).
Tonight, we are unveiling the long anticipated (from the band’s point of view, anyway) David Lee Roth intro to the set. A few years ago, I showed Darwin and Greg this incredible mp3 of David Lee Roth’s isolated vocal performance of “Running with the Devil.” Diamond Dave in the sound booth, dry, no reverb, no instruments. He does a lot of metal dude vamping, and the result is simultaneously awe inspiring and hilarious. During the last two months, we’ve become obsessed with the clip, and find ourselves sharing it with people every time we make a new friend. Tonight, we’ll start sharing it with the all of you. Let me tell ya’ll bout it!
