we covered “scar tissue” for JJJ radio in australia last week. i look forward to that surfacing on the internet. now we are preparing a mash-up of “teenage dream*” and “the bomb song” for Radio 1 in england next week. the video for that song is out-of-control sexy. plain white panties?? my favorite. in other news, greg james made “constellations” his record of the week this week, which obliges us to write and record a greg-james-centric jingle for his show. we deemed my first attempt a little too risqué for broadcast, but i thought i’d post it here for your enjoyment:

we just flew back from australia yesterday and we’re staying in london until our headline tour kicks off in manc† on tuesday. michelle continued on to NYC and passed the bass baton to andrew, who’ll be with us for the rest of the tour. each line-up has it’s dynamic. touring like this is a unique exercise in adapting to people’s patterns and personalities.
we’re staying in the same loft here in hoxton that we occupied back in march, during our first trip to england as a band. it’s our favorite place to crash in london. we watched Pleasantville, Groundhog Day, and Oceans 11 so far. Yes, this loft has everything–olive oil, pots, pans, beds, and even movies! Pleasantville is so heavy-handed, though, i can’t even tell you guys. it’s like, racism = bad, oppression = bad, creativity + passion + courage + intellectuality = good! it was hard to finish. Groundhog Day, on the other hand, is magnificent. genius. watched it twice. it’s one of my favorite movies of all time. humorous, romantic, and totally existential. up there with Big. Big is the more emotional of the two. G Day is the more philosophical, but far from dry. I love how the time vortex is never explained. its origin is completely beside the point. it’s so true to the issues that face modern man. but i digress.
we’re also figuring out our US tour plans. there will be some action either in jan/feb, or april, or both. in the mean time, we just booked the mercury lounge for november 17th, to commemorate the occasion of our triumphant§ return to NYC after 4 1/2 months of touring abroad.
stay tuned for more ramblings i guess. see you all on the road!
love,
deez
